My dashboards were ignored and that changed my whole way of working

In 2019, after several failed ventures, I joined a large sanitation company in Chile as a Maintenance Planning Engineer. My job was simple, or so I thought: create dashboards in Power BI for teams to make better decisions in the field.

At first, I assumed everyone was visiting my dashboards. I created the boards, reported by email and I was calm. But after months, I realized that no one was watching. How did I know? Because I kept getting emails asking for the exact same data that was in those dashboards.

I tried to educate the teams with trivia and games, something fun to break the routine. Although it was a partial success, it did not solve the problem completely: emails kept arriving asking for the same information.

I couldn't continue in that challenge because I decided to start a new business, but that experience taught me something crucial: making data-based information available is more complex and less trivial than it seems. Information can get lost in hundreds of links to dashboards, and this creates enormous friction. That experience was the first approach to pain that Inpla solves today.
